Carlos V. Estêvão is a full professor and PhD in Education. He has lectured several disciplines related to human rights, among which Education, Human Rights and Citizenship at the University of Minho, and Religion and Tolerance: Educational Challenge at the doctoral program in Religion Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

He has published around 150 scientific papers, the most recent ones especially on the fields of human rights and social justice.

He has been a lecturer of the UNESCO professorship at the Universidade Católica in Brasilia, participating in events about human rights supported by that institution.

He has held over five hundred conferences/lectures in scientific meetings in Portugal and abroad and has developed his research in areas related to education, justice and democracy.

He was one of the founders of Movimento por um Mundo Melhor (Movement for a Better World). He created and coordinated the Centre for Research in Education for Human Rights of the Institute of Education of the University of Minho.
