Introduction to Comunicating Science in 5 StePs

Recently, there’s been an increase in Society’s interest in basic scientific concepts, namely those relating to Bioengineering and Biotechnology, as well as its necessity of knowledge of the avancements in Science and Biotechnology. The current pandemic conjecture has also lead to the necessity of quickly adapting traditional in-person learning to the online learning model and more recently the hybrid learning model, where capturing the listener’s attention, be them students or stakeholders was and is a constant challenge.

Methodology

Module 0, the introductory module of the “How to Communicate Science in 5 StePs” course, aims to present a methodology for developping a resource for the communication of science, be it video, animation, infographic or an informational text.

We propose a 5-Step (5P) methodology of active co-construction of the respective multimodal comunication of science, resorting to different digital tools:
